Conducting a supervised computational biology research project on protein sequence evolution using protein language models, embedding-based scoring, and reproducible Python workflows.
Prithvi Rajan
Bioinformatics MSc student focused on protein ML and docking workflows
My broad interests:
- protein language models and variant-effect prediction
- sequence recovery, epistasis, and protein evolution
- molecular docking workflows with validation checks
- reproducible computational biology workflows
I'm an MSc Bioinformatics student at Freie Universitat Berlin, with a background in healthcare data systems, database engineering, and analytics. My current work sits at the intersection of computational biology, protein modeling, and reproducible research software.
Recently, I have been working with ESM protein language models, APP variant-effect scoring, epistasis, insulin-like sequence recovery, ESMFold structures, and molecular docking readouts. I am interested in using these tools carefully, with checks that make the results easier to interpret and rerun.
The database side still matters to how I work: SQL, Oracle, dashboards, migrations, and production reliability taught me to value clean inputs and traceable outputs. I try to bring that same mindset to bioinformatics projects, especially when a workflow needs to be useful beyond one successful run.
Timeline
Started the M.Sc. Bioinformatics program at Freie Universitat Berlin. Most of my current work sits around protein language models, docking, and careful computational biology experiments.
Worked as a data analyst on Kaiser Permanente healthcare data: SQL, Power BI, hospital admissions, claims data, and repeatable reporting workflows.
Held a part-time Financial Analyst role at Havenspire, supporting investment-analysis work through market research, financial data review, and reporting.
Worked at Accenture as an Oracle Database Administrator, focusing on migrations, SQL performance, Oracle Data Guard, and production reliability for healthcare systems.
Worked at Accenture on high-volume IBM DB2 databases with focus on performance, schema design, secure operations, and production reliability.
Completed a B.Tech Bioinformatics degree at Karunya University before moving deeper into computational biology and biomedical data systems.
